The longevity underground is buying unapproved gene therapies abroad.

Boston Magazine exposes DIY biohackers taking unregulated therapies — plasma exchange, off-label peptides, clandestine gene treatments.

Boston Magazine published a deep investigation into the dark side of longevity. Concierge doctors report patients taking clandestine trips abroad for unapproved gene therapies, spending thousands on off-label plasma-exchange treatments, and buying experimental peptides online.

ER doctor Matthew Mostofi at Tufts Medical Center has treated patients who took untested supplements and travelled for unverified stem cell injections. 'Since we don't know a lot about it, we don't have records, and it's not approved, it's hard to even research it.'

The longevity movement has an underground. And it is growing faster than the regulation that might contain it.
